Doris Johnson Obituary

WILLIMANTIC

Doris N. Johnson of Willimantic passed peacefully at her home on July 14 th after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 4, 1933, daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (Klopstein) Noheimer. She was predeceased by her husband, Wesley C. Johnson.

Doris (Dot) enjoyed knitting, playing cards, working on a good puzzle, playing bridge, baking cookies, and making her special oyster crackers for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with family and friends both here and at her home away from home in Wells Beach, ME. Dot & Wess cottage in Wells Beach was a very special place for them, as well as for anyone who was fortunate enough to visit over the years.

Dot graduated from Windham High School and started working at Southern New England Telephone Company as a service representative in the business office. This is where she met the love of her life, Wes. Once the kids were grown, she worked at the Clark House as a waitress/hostess for many years. Dot was also very involved with her Church and the Card Home. Her special baked goods, along with her warm smile brought joy to many.

Dot is survived by her children, Michael (Deborah) Johnson, Nancy (James) Brennan, David (Kathleen) Johnson; her grandchildren, Kelcey (Justin) Martin, James R. (Morgan) Brennan, Tyler (Stephanie) Johnson, Michael (Kimberly) Brennan, Patrick (Michele) Brennan, Conor and Brenden Johnson and her great grandchildren, Hazel, Maya, Wesley, Cooper, Ava and Casey, who were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Judy and Alice Noheimer, as well as many nieces and nephews and two very special friends, Phyllis and Eileen.

Her family would like to thank Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice for the wonderful care and support that they gave to her and her family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 20 at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church, Willimantic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 199 Valley Street, Willimantic, CT 06226 or to the Card Home, 154 Pleasant Street, Willimantic, CT 06226.
