Doris J. Jones, age 95 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Doris was born on October 13, 1929 to the late James and Helen Hester Mooney. Doris Jones was a trailblazer for her time. She climbed the corporate ladder in high heels in the early 70s and became a senior executive leader of Auto Glass and Upholstery, a multimillion-dollar company with 26 locations. After leaving the auto glass business she became an owner/operator of Bearno‘s Pizza on Westport Road. Doris retired from the restaurant business after nine years and then took a position with A TASTE OF KENTUCKY as their bookkeeper and was an integral part of their continued success and growth. Doris Jones was a well-respected businesswoman and did a fantastic job leading people through her hard work and dedication. She was truly a leader and touched many lives. She not only worked hard but also enjoyed life to the fullest. One of her favorite pastimes was dancing of which she was an active participant for many years.
In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Ed Jones; sister, Carole Alter; and brothers, Joe Mooney and Jim Mooney, Jr.
Doris leaves to cherish her memory her children, Joyce Horrell (Charles) and Troy Jones (Lori); grandchildren, Jimmy Lenz (Michelle), Jennifer Schofield (Brett), Danielle Revert (Cory), Taylor Jones (Nicole Kruse), Jessica Piker (Justin) and Parker Jones; great-grandchildren, Meridith Teegarden (Aaron), Alex Ann Heim (Ben Brown), Isabelle Lenz, Dylan Piker, Marlaina Piker, Maggie Revert and Ellie Revert; siblings, Betty Bosch, Hal Mooney (Linda), Ken Mooney, Darlene Brown and Jan Gable (Jack); and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Doris' life will be there at 12pm, with entombment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, Louisville, Kentucky.
The family will be forever grateful for the support and compassionate care from Hosparus, especially from Karen, Kara, Joline, Kyle and Courtney.
