Doris Faye Knox Krizak (Momma/Grandma/Mawmaw/GG) was born in Lovelady, Texas, on December 3, 1935. She grew up all over Texas, spending time in Lovelady, Weldon, Crocket, and Houston before her family settled in Galena Park. Doris graduated from Galena Park High School and attended Elliott Business College. She then moved to Chicago and worked a short time before meeting the love of her life, Eugene Krizak. They married on October 20, 1956, bought a home shortly after, and started their life together in Baytown, Texas. She was the proud mother of Tim, Allen, Teresa, and Kathleen, and also an amazing grandmother to her 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to being a wonderful stay-at-home mom, she dedicated her life to caring for others. She was a Room Mom at St. Joseph's Catholic School, a Pink Lady at San Jacinto Hospital, and a foster mother of 5 children. Doris was also an active member of First Baptist Church Baytown where she taught Sunday School, assisted in the nursery, and taught each year at Vacation Bible School. Doris sang in the church choir, played in the hand bell choir, and planned, shopped for, cooked and served a meal for the seniors every month in the fellowship hall.
Doris and Eugene loved to travel in their RV and explore North America. They visited National Parks across the country, taking in beautiful sights and making many friends along the way. For her, travel included spending extended time with her family, so she was excited by the chance to travel to China as part of the adoption trip of her youngest grandchild. She and Eugene also visited Mexico, Holland, Portugal, and Norway as part of their journey together. Still, Doris continued caring for the hearts of those around her through the weekly Ecumenical Bible Study she and Eugene hosted, as well as the handwritten cards and notes that she sent to her friends and acquaintances.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will all miss her, but find peace in knowing that she is spending eternity with her beloved Eugene and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in celebrating her life. Doris will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
