Doris “Dee” Lamey, 83, of Winterville, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025. Born on April 13, 1942, in Dekalb County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Nora Lee Calloway. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bruce Edward Lamey Sr. and siblings, Tommy Callaway, Ray Callaway, Ralph Callaway, and Colleen Stuart.
Dee was a lifelong member of Grove Chapel Church. She worked as an administrative assistant at the University of Georgia, then later at Goodyear Tire Company. Her last job was working as an accountant for BP Oil Company. She loved her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Doris is survived by her children: Bruce Edward Lamey Jr. (Janeen) and William Carey Lamey (Tracy); grandchildren: Eric Lamey (Ashley), Jonathan Lamey, Haylee Meadows (Nick), and Kara Lamey; great grandchildren: Skylar Lamey, Randy Lamey, and Austin Lamey; and siblings: Bobby Callaway, Joy Turner, and Peggy Deal. She also leaves behind Jeffery Chase, her four-legged little boy who will miss her dearly.
A funeral service will be held at Grove Chapel Church at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025. She will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 PM. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East, from 6:00-8:00 PM.
