Doris Ruth Laughlin

Doris Ruth Laughlin, age 98, died Thursday, January 8, 2026, at her home in Sikeston, Missouri.

Born May 26, 1927, at Morehouse, MO, to the late John Russell Crosno and Bessie Mae Simers Crosno, she was raised in the Morehouse area and was a graduate of Morehouse Schools. She would then go on to receive her education to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1960, she moved to St. Charles, MO where she was employed with Western Auto as a bookkeeper until her retirement. In 2017, she returned to the Sikeston area and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sikeston.

She was married to Robert H. Laughlin, who preceded her in death on September 16, 2011.

Surviving is her son, James A. Elliott of St. Charles, MO; her grandchildren, Paige Elliott (Shane) Davis and James A. Elliott, IV both of Indianapolis, IN; her great grandson, Jayce Davis; her special niece, Barbara Hensley of Sikeston as well as several additional nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Juanita Voss, Helen Hensley, Mary Sue Crosno and Wanda Louetta Dillon.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2026, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m., Monday, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO. Rev. Glen Cantrell, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Sikeston, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.
