Doris Loukides
DOVER - Doris Loukides passed away July 13, 2023, surrounded by her two daughters. She was born June 18, 1934, daughter of the late Richard J. and Anna B. Haass.
Doris began her career as a Bell Telephone Operator in Dover and later became self-employed. She was a member of Maple Dale Country Club as well as the Deerfield Beach Country Club in FL where she and her husband retired in 1990. Doris spent her days playing golf, reading on the beach, and spending time with friends and family.
After losing her beloved husband, Doris moved to Houston, TX to be closer to family and spending her days exercising, playing golf and volunteering at the local St. John's Hospital. Doris then moved back to Dover in 2010 enjoying the Modern Maturity Center activities and going out to lunch with longtime friends and family.
In addition to her parents; Doris was preceded in death by her husband, George Loukides; two brothers, R. Paul Haass and William Haass; and two sisters, Helen Haass and Mary Rash.
She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Dianne Halpern (Joel) of Dover and Daneen Pearson of Texas; grandchildren, Ryan Rhoads (Nicole), Ashlee Skabla Velez (Waldo), Emily McGetrick (Mike), Jeff Halpern (Bethany), and Ryan Halpern; and six great grandchildren, a niece, three nephews, as well as many other family loved ones.
Funeral service will be held 11AM, Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be private.
A special thank you to all the Bayhealth nursing staff on 4A, specifically Melissa, Justine, Celia and Jenn who were very attentive, compassionate and responsive; and to Terry (TLT) – who we are grateful for her guidance and support.
