Doris Manley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Starks & Menchinger Chapel - Saint Joseph on Nov. 7, 2024.
Doris E. Manley, 86, of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at her home in Dowagiac.
The family will receive guests from 11am until time of funeral service at 1pm, Monday, November 11, 2024 at Glenwood Seventh Day Adventist Church, 51089 Glenwood Rd., Dowagiac, Pastor Mike Weakly officiating. Burial to follow at South Wayne Cemetery, Dowagiac. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Glenwood Seventh Day Adventist Church Building Fund.
Doris was born March 9, 1938 in Batesville, AR to Herman and Eula (Stroud) Powell. When she was a child, she moved to Decatur. As a young adult, Doris moved to Dowagiac and remained a part of the community ever since. She was a life-long member of Glenwood SDA, first as a student and remained a devoted member until her passing. She was a devout Christian and lived her life with an open and giving heart. For over 30 years she was a registered nurse and ran an adult foster care home with her husband during that time. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. The highlight of Doris' life was this past March, when her family surprised her by attending a Sabbath Worship Service on her birthday, filling up almost half the sanctuary!
Doris will be missed by her husband, Floyd V. Manley, whom she married on June 10, 1971 in Dowagiac; her children, David Weaver, James (Sheila) Weaver, Charles Brown, Sheila (Paul) Miller, Sherry (Brad DuFour) Roden, and Delmon (Doreen) Brown; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son, Rick (Lisa) Brown; her three siblings; and her parents.
