Doris Irene Martin was born on January 31, 1947, in Wadena, Minnesota, to Edward and Edith (Harris) Oak. After completing her education, she worked as a health aide at Shirley Sprowls in Alexandria, where she cared for individuals with disabilities.

On October 16, 1971, Doris married Mervin Martin in Alexandria. They settled in Sunburg, where they raised their two sons, Rick and Tim. Mervin owned Martin's Hardware and Lumber Company, and after their children finished school, Doris worked alongside him for 15 years.

She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Kerkhoven. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, watching hummingbirds, spending time with her dogs, and being with family and friends. She especially looked forward to family reunions where she enjoyed visiting with nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Doris remained closely connected to her sons throughout her life.

Doris is survived by her husband, Mervin; sons: Ricky (Stephanie) Martin and Tim (Andrea) Martin; and grandchildren Hunter Martin, Autumn Martin, Brayden Sewall, and Weston Sewall.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Walter Oak, Edward Oak, Tillie Erlandson, Lilly Webb, Dorothy Paler, Bertha Lucille Oak, and Wesley Oak.
