John E. Martin, 92, of Middletown, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2025. Born on April 12, 1933, in New York, John was the son of the late John and Gladys Martin.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1950 to 1953. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to the New York City Fire Department, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant after years of brave and faithful service to the city he loved.

In 1967, John married the love of his life, Rosemary T. Ferguson, in New York City. Their union was marked by decades of devotion and companionship.

A former resident of Westwood, NJ, and New York City, John eventually settled in Middletown, where he enjoyed his retirement years. He was an avid reader with a keen interest in politics and current events, and found joy in taking long walks and engaging in thoughtful conversations about the world around him.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosemary and his sister, Patricia Daly and her husband Denis.

John is survived by his sons; John of Red Bank and Thomas of Rumson, grandchildren; Matteo Martin, Bianca Calderon and Kearny Villagas, nephew, Robert Ferguson and several other nieces and nephews, as well as, his former daughters-in-law; Clarissa Villalta and Cynthia Martin.

He was a beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
