Michael Steinmetz

Michael Steinmetz, age 59, of Lincroft, New Jersey, passed away on October 14, 2025.

In1966 he was born on August 4th (which was also his grandmother's birthday) in Brooklyn, NY. Michael moved with his family to Lincroft as a child, where he remained a proud and active part of the community. He attended St. Leo the Great School and graduated from Middletown South.

Michael was a master plumber for 25 years, known for doing the job right and never cutting corners. He also served as President of the Lincroft First Aid Squad, dedicating countless hours to helping others and keeping his community safe. Whether he was on a call or on the job, Michael showed up - tough as nails, dependable as ever, and always ready to take charge. He was a devoted dog lover and shared a deep bond with every canine companion who came into his life.

Those who knew Michael knew exactly who he was: a lovable bastard with a heart of gold. He told it like it was, didn't sugarcoat a thing, and somehow, you loved him all the more for it. Underneath that gruff exterior was a fiercely loyal, deeply caring man who would drop everything for the people he loved - and probably fix your sink while he was at it.

He is survived by his loving parents, Diane and John Steinmetz, his brother John Steinmetz and his wife Peggy, his sister Susan Wiemken and her husband Kevin, and his beloved nephews and niece: Nicholas, John, Julia.

Michael's presence - his grit, humor, and unwavering loyalty - will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who had the good fortune to know him.

A visitation will be held at John E. Day Funeral Home, Tuesday October 21st from 3-7pm. Mass services will be 10:15 at St. Leo the Great Church on Wednesday 22nd.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Michael's memory to a local first aid, emergency service organization, or the American Kidney Foundation.
