Lyn Schneider Obituary

Lyn Schneider, affectionately known as "Rockstar," passed away peacefully at her home in Red Bank, New Jersey, on October 20, 2025, surrounded by family she so deeply loved. She was 74 years old.

Born on October 2, 1951, in Middlesex, NJ, Lyn was the beloved daughter of Edward and Theresa Piasecki (Horn). She grew up alongside her siblings Chris (Susan) and Marci (Kelly), forming lifelong bonds filled with laughter, mischief, and unconditional love.

A proud graduate of Trenton State College, Lyn followed her passion for photography, graduating from Germain School of Photography in New York City in 1977. Her truest artistic expression came through her photography. Living in NYC, working for J. Barry O'Rourke Photography, and spending summers in Rockport, MA, were some of her happiest early memories. She had a remarkable eye for capturing the beauty in everyday life, from golden sunsets and beach days to the quiet, candid moments that told the real stories of love and connection. Her photographs were an extension of her soul: warm, vibrant, and full of life.

In time, Lyn went on to achieve her teaching certification. An unexpected path that turned out to be one of the most rewarding and greatest gifts to her, as well as to the children she taught. Her gentle kindness, patience, and unwavering fairness made her one of the most respected teachers at Millington School, where she helped every child feel seen, valued, confident, and capable of achieving anything.

Lyn married Joe Costa in Red Bank, NJ, in 2017, finding in him a passionate, loving partner and fellow adventurer. Together, they shared a life full of love, laughter, world travel, and shared passions. From daydreaming on the Navesink River in their Adirondack chairs, to safari vacations, summer days by their pool, crazy Long Beach Island weekends, and beach vacations in the Caribbean, they created the kind of memories others can only dream of.

To her family and friends, Lyn was a party girl, beautiful, sexy, and a whole lotta fun. She was also as warmhearted as she was fun-thoughtful, compassionate, rock solid, and effortlessly kind. She was that rare soul who could make anyone feel at ease. Her empathy and fierce loyalty made her a source of comfort and strength to those lucky enough to know her.

She adored her children, Eric (Kelly) and Lisa (Sean), who were her heart and greatest pride and joy, including her grandchildren, Cameron (3), Natalie (1), Luciana (8), Francesca (6), MacKenzie (3), and Olivia (1), each of whom brought endless happiness, laughter, and light into her life.

Lyn's spirit was as vibrant as the life she led. Whether behind a camera, on a tennis court, relaxing on a beach, or partying with her friends and family, she lived her life with infectious radiant energy and boundless generosity.

Lyn is survived by her mother Theresa Horn (95), her loving husband Joe Costa, her children, grandchildren, and siblings. She was predeceased by her father Edward Piasecki (1971) and first husband Roy Schneider (2011).

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Lyn's life at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ, on Thursday from 2–4 PM and 7–9 PM, with a service to follow on Friday from 10–12 PM.

In lieu of, or addition to flowers and plants, donations may be made to your favorite charity in Lyn's name, a fitting tribute to her giving heart.
