Doris J. McHugh, 100, of Ulster Park, NY, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

She was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 28, 1925, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Fiorello) Motondo.

In high school, she was an avid bowler. Doris retired from Chase Manhattan Bank and was a member of The Red Hat Society and Town of Esopus Senior Citizens Club. She played Bingo twice a week at both the Midtown Neighborhood Center in Kingston and the Town of Ulster Senior Center in Lake Katrine.

Doris is survived by her children: Doris Wallace, Kathy (James) Higgins, Karen Rudy and Robert P. (Sally) McHugh, grandchildren: Andrew (Christine) Wallace, Jennifer Wallace, Joseph (Sharon) Higgins, Diane Rudy, Michael (Aimee) Rumont, Chrystine (Steve) Alhona, and Robert (Jaclyn) McHugh, great-grandchildren: Andrew (Juliane) Wallace, William (Tyler) Wallace, Brianne (David) Sunderhause, Connor Higgins and Emma Rumont, and great-great grandchildren: Rosie Sunderhause and soon-to-be born, Madyson Wallace.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Edward McHugh (2011), son Edward R. McHugh (1959), grandson, James Higgins (2024), and son-in-law, Andrew Wallace (2016).

The family suggests contributions in memory of Doris to: Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 80 Washington Street, Suite 204, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601

Cremation service arrangements are entrusted to Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway Ulster Park.

A graveside service followed by inurnment at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, will be announced at a later date, please check back
