Doris (Israel) Mercer of Beloit passed away on December 5, 2025 at the age of 97. She was born on September 3,1928 in Knox Township to the late Clifford and Emma (Lewis) Israel and was married to the late Donald "Dean" Mercer for 67 years. Doris graduated from Sebring McKinley High School and entered the job market pre-computerage with shorthand and typing skills. Trolleys, bridges, end carriages, trackwheels, bearings and motors became her work language for 61 years at Morgan Engineering in Alliance. After Dean's death in 2017, Doris continued to live independently in her home at 332 S. 12th Street. She appreciated her farm-rooted upbringing and with Dean worked continuously to maintain a neat country property. Her music was the humming of lawn mowers and the neighboring farm tractors traveling up and down the road during the planting and harvesting seasons. As Doris aged into her upper nineties, she was grateful for her main and constant caregivers Ken, Ron and Linda Bandy. She also appreciated the watchful eyes and visits from Larry, Delmar Jr, Lynette and Gary. She is survived by generations of nephews and nieces. Per her request, there will be no services. Burial will take place alongside her Husband Dean, her Father and Mother, Sisters Mary Fryfogle, Virginia Bandy, Brothers Lewis, Clyde, Delmar and their spouses at Highland Memorial Park on the lands formerly of her parents known as the Israeldale Farm. Friends and family may sign the guest register and send condolences online at www.grfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Sebring Chapel (330) 938-2526.
