Doris B. Mitchem

Doris B. Mitchem, 87, of Clover, SC, was called home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2023.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was affectionately known as Nana.
She always placed everyone else's needs before her own.
Mrs. Mitchem was the daughter of the late James Harry Thomas Bridges and Annie Louise Bridges.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Fraley; her brothers, Larry Bridges, Jerry Bridges, Dean Bridges; son-in-law, Eddie Mathis.
Mrs. Mitchem is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Leroy Mitchem; her daughters, Teresa Mathis, Ann Pierce (Jerry); five grandchildren, Jennifer (Brent), Bobby (Lacey), Jamie (Kellie), Justin (Ashley) and Garland; seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Kolton, Arthur, Baylee, Jaxen, Karaline, Lukas; two sisters, Libby Wison and Jane Emory; sisters-in-law, Karen Bridges, Judy Bridges and Christy Bridges; numerous nieces and nephews; her loving puppy, Princess; and special family friend, Jody Ghorley.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Friday, January 5, 2024, at The First Presbyterian Church of Bessemer City, officiated by Rev. Otis Whitehurst.
The family will receive friends 2-3 prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church of Bessemer City 202 North 14th Street Bessemer City, NC 28016.
Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service located at 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia.
