Doris Joann Mix

Austintown- Services celebrating the life of Doris Joann Mix, age 84 will be held at 11am Thursday at the Lane Family Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. Doris was born November 23, 1931 in Berlin Center the daughter of Merle and Helen (Baringer) Kuhns. Doris is a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Berlin Center. She retired in 1994 from Mahoning County Department of Human Services where she worked for 13 years. She was a member of the Eagles in Austintown, Golden Girl Bowling League and American Business Woman Gold Torch Chapter (now Tri Gold Chapter). She will be sadly missed by her children, Scott Mix of Austintown and Pamela (Stephen) Balent of Newton Falls, six grandchildren, Jacquelyn (John) Zawaski of Akron, Joseph Mix, Mark Balent, Jessica Balent and Jeffrey Balent all of Austintown and three great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her siblings; Margaret Garritano, Merle Charlotte Garritano both of North Jackson, Maxine Swisher of Berlin Center, Linda Reeder of Kinsman and her brother Ronald Kuhns of Indiana. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and sister Donna Allcorn. Family and friends may call from 5-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. The Mix family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley in Doris's memory.
