Doris Eleanor Muir, 99, Died in her home on September 22, 2023. She was born in Camden, NJ to Charles and Ruth Bell. She was married for 42 years and was a widow to the late John Leonard Muir. She had one brother, the late David, One sister the late Lois, and one nephew the late Thomas. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Ann; and her grandson Joshua Christopher; and Thomas' family.
Doris was a member of Christ Church of Oak Brook for 44 years, having previous memberships in Presbyterian and Pentecostal congregations. She played the Piano regularly and sang in ensembles in the latter.
Doris Used her gift of piano for the Lord in churches, retirement centers, and nursing homes. During Covid, she often shared a hymn with her bible study weekly on Zoom. She lovingly wrote cards and notes of encouragement to many. Doris knitted baby scarves for the salvation army. She sponsored children from other countries for over 65 years. She loved the Atlantic Ocean, regularly spending time there in the summer, eating seafood, reading, and doing word searches.
Doris loved her Lord and spent much time in prayer and reading the scriptures. Even at 99, she was rereading the Bible again. Living with her family for the last 10 years, she was a particular encouragement and support to her daughter and grandson.
In State Saturday 10am until time of funeral at 11am at Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Rd, Oak Brook, IL 60523. Interment Bronswood Cemetery. Memorial Donations to Children Incorporated, P.O. Box 72848, North Chesterfield, VA 23235, are appreciated, Doris sponsored children for near 40 years. Funeral info: knollcrest.net or (630) 932-1500.
