Obituary published on Legacy.com by Martin & Hightower Funeral Home - Carrollton on Dec. 20, 2025.
A local legend has received her wings and will forever watch over us from on high. Doris Marie Driver Muse, age 98, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025. She was born on February 10, 1927, and lived a life defined by her faith, strength, and love.
She will be remembered for her quiet courage, her boundless generosity, and her sense of humor. Her life was marked by extraordinary courage. Her husband lost his life tragically at 38. She was left to raise eight children on her own, balancing the demands of motherhood with the challenges of supporting her family on a single income. Her strength and devotion became the cornerstone of her family's legacy.
That legacy is vast and enduring. From those eight children came 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren, and counting. Each generation carries forward her strength, faith, and love.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtie Elizebeth Sheffield; her father, Walter Fez Driver; her siblings, Audie & Aubrey Lott, Dorthy & Jack Driver; her husband, Ulus William Muse; her sons Larry & Billy Muse; and a grandson, Charlie Joe Muse.
A faithful Christian, she lived her faith daily through kindness, perseverance, and service to others. She was an excellent cook whose meals brought comfort and joy to her loved ones. Best Biscuits in the business. She started working at Sewell's at 15 and excelled there until its closure in 1987. She raised a garden every year until just a few years ago. She confronted cancer and defeated it with dignity and class.
She will be remembered not only for her resilience and sacrifice, but also for her unwavering faith, her warm kitchen, and the love she poured into her family.
A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Doris' life on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Harris and Pastor Kelly Runels officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: James Muse, Ron Acup, Marcus Muse, Daniel Muse, Jonathon Muse, Bryan Muse, Josh Muse, Matthew Steed, and Michael Muse.
