It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis Hickman Estes, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who entered eternal rest on January 16, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on January 27, 1944, in Fulton County, Georgia to the late Charles Hickman and Ruby Hasty Hickman.
Phyllis was a cherished wife to her late husband, David Lewis Estes, with whom she shared a profound and loving bond. Together, they built a nurturing home filled with laughter, respect, and faith. As a mother, Phyllis was nothing short of exceptional, guiding and supporting her children, Rhett and Paige, with an open heart and gentle spirit. Her grandchildren, Seth, Peyton, Cody, Claire, and Carlie, were the lights of her life, and she showered them with boundless love and wisdom. Phyllis took great pride in being a grandmother and great-grandmother, always seeking to create lasting memories with her family.
As a homemaker, Phyllis approached her responsibilities with grace and dedication. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and family gatherings around her table were a delightful experience. Phyllis also found joy in her faith; she was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church and a loving participant in her Sunday School Class, where she served as an inspiring example to those around her.
Lifelong memories were woven during family vacations at the beach, afternoons spent at the lake, and cozy evenings watching the Hallmark Channel and The Andy Griffith Show. Shopping outings with her girls were moments filled with laughter and joy, showcasing her vibrant spirit and gracious nature.
As we gather to honor Phyllis's beautiful life, we remember the genuine love she exuded, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts she touched.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, David Lewis Estes and her brother, Richard Hickman.
Phyllis is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rhett & Melanie Estes; her daughter and son-in-law, Paige & Mark Wessinger; grandchildren: Seth & Hannah Wessinger, Peyton & Chad Jenkins, Cody Estes, Claire & Kip Copeland, and Carlie Estes; eight great-grandchildren; an exceptional nephew, Gregory Stoeckig and his wife, Margarita, along with a number of nieces and nephews.
