Riley Funeral Home - ChatfieldDoris L. Narveson, age 93 of Chatfield, passed away at the Chosen Valley Care Center on January 1, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Doris Lorraine was born on September 24, 1932 in Austin, Minnesota the daughter of James and Emma (nee Fuerstenberg) Prouty. She attended high school in Rochester and graduated in 1950. She married Lyle Narveson on June 20, 1953 in Rochester and they made their home in Chatfield. Doris worked in in-home childcare and then as a housekeeper for St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a Cub Scout Leader and was a member of Chatfield United Methodist Church and their women's group. She read daily from "The Upper Room", sang in the church choir, and enjoyed watching family sporting events. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, dancing and taking pictures for the wonderful family scrapbooks she created.
Doris will be greatly missed by her husband of 72 years, Lyle, of Chatfield, her children Linda Johnson, Karen (Rick) Budahn, Dave (Teresa) Narveson, Bruce (Kay) Narveson, grandchildren Richard (Jeanie) Narveson, Michael (Bonny) Budahn, Crystal (Josh) Ristau, Lynn Budahn, Jenny (Bryan) Guderian, Ashley Narveson and Jacob (Clare) Narveson, great-grandchildren Logan and Kaleb Narveson, Colton, Derek and Lillian Budahn, Kyra Throckmorton, Mason, Cadance and Skylar Ristau, Shane and Sofia Guderian.
Doris is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her brother and sisters-in-law Jerry and Elsie Narveson, Butch and Carmen Narveson and June Prouty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Howard Prouty, Harry Prouty, James Prouty, Roger Prouty, Edna Hyde, Beverly Baker, Vern Prouty, Robert Prouty and brother and sisters-in-law Bob and Bev Polikowsy, Bob and Donna Jech, Darrell and Lois Bacon and Dean and Teresa Narveson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Chatfield United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 5-7 p.m. at Hoff Funeral Home in Chatfield and again on Saturday one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Chatfield United Methodist Church or Chosen Valley Care Center are appreciated.
