She dearly loved animals, but especially horses. Her name was well-known in the Tennessee Walking Horse world. Alongside her daughter, as a breeder and owner, she was very devoted to The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration (TWHNC), which hosts the World Grand Championship, a prestigious annual event where the top Tennessee Walking Horse is crowned. Year after year, the family has brought home countless First Place awards and titles.

Surviving are: her husband of seventy-five years, Mr. Everette L. Penick; a daughter, Vickie Sue Penick of Walterboro; a daughter-in-law, Katy Penick of Ravenel; two grandsons, Scott Kevin Penick and his wife Rachel of Summerville and Daniel S. Penick and his wife Kari of Summerville; and six great grandchildren, Abigail, Anna, Luke, Jack, Beau, and Ainsley. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Kevin Lee Penick and Stephen David Penick.
