DORIS E. PERTL
Doris E. Pertl, 95, of Canton passed away on August 5, peacefully, at her home. She was born in Canton, Ohio on November 28, 1927 to parents, Richard and Thecla (Conrad) Gellenbeck.
Preceded in death by her husband, of 60 years, Joseph Pertl; sister, Rita Sowd; brothers, James and Earl Gellenbeck; and grandson, Brian Tournoux. Doris will be greatly missed by her 6 children, Catharine (Robert) Tournoux, Karen Pertl (Phillip Capri), Amy Pertl Clark (Chatrick), David (Judy) Pertl, John and Richard Pertl; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
A life resident of Canton, she was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School and a 1948 graduate of the Mercy School of Nursing, retiring from Mercy Medical Center after 25 years of dedicated service. She made an impact on many lives. She was a member of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, St. John's Guild, and the Mercy Nursing Alumni Association. She was an avid Canton, Ohio card player and a longtime Massillon Tiger fan.
Family and friends are welcome to attend calling hour on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at Lamiell Funeral Home, 1353 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Canton. Following visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, 627 McKinley Avenue, NW, Canton. The Reverend John E. Sheridan presiding. Burial will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Canton.
