Doris E. Pickering, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. She was born in Fairmont, West Virginia on March 13, 1938 to the late George and Eloise Minnick. In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Warren Jay Pickering; son, Danny Picking and daughter, Terri Kendel.
She is survived by her youngest son, John Pickering; sister, Judith (Tim Sr.) Malmsburg; daughter-in-law, Robin Pickering and 4 grandchildren, Michael Kendle, Pamela Kendle, Kevin Kendle and Amy Kendle along with their spouses; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Doris was devoted to her faith and an active member of the Dayton Vineyard Church where she assisted with many youth groups and food banks. She also joined the community in prayer with Revive Ohio. Doris left behind many church friends, including, Rick and Denis Eggers along with their children, Ellen, Joey and David. The most important thing to Doris was her family and living out her faith. She also enjoyed cooking and sewing. Doris' laughter and good humor will be dearly missed by all.
A Celebration of Doris' Life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Dayton Vineyard Church in the upper building located at 4081 Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek. All are welcome as it will be a gathering for her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be put towards the final expenses and family needs by contacting her son, John Pickering.
