Doris Dianne Dise Plowfield, 83, of Reinholds (formerly Lititz) passed quietly at home on March 3, 2026. She was the daughter of Alfred and Lucina (Heiser) Dise of Bridgeville, PA and sister of Julia Wirono (Ocala, FL), Clara Plowfield (Cincinnati, OH) and Linda Mathena (Exton, PA).
On August 7, 1960, Doris married George Richard Plowfield. Married for 65 years, Doris truly enjoyed doing all things by the side of her husband; these included traveling on motorcycle, touring the country, crafting and hosting family picnics on their front porch or in Perry County, PA at the couple’s “cabin”. Doris loved the outdoors and could often be found trail blazing and hiking. She was an avid quilter sharing beautiful keepsakes with family, friends and her church. Fond of nature and all things green, her quilts always included shades of green.
Doris and George raised three daughters, Deborah Burkholder (Denver; husband Kurt), Lisa Plowfield (York; husband John) and Sara Jane “Sally” Musser (Newmanstown; husband John). She enjoyed being “Mom-Mom” to six grandchildren (Kevin, Amy, Ethan, George, Emma and Alex) and ten great-grandchildren. She worked in the service industry at Hess Brothers, Travis Mills, Warner Lambert and for Aramark. Doris was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Landisburg, PA.
Celebration of life and memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, please make a gift to Quilts of Valor (https://www.qovf.org/donate/) in memory of Doris and her love of quilting.
