Under the loving care of her family and grandchildren dear to her heart, Doris (Nellie to Dad) died peacefully on February 12, 2025. She was 97 years old, born on July 10, 1927, in Kramer, ND, the daughter of William and Esther Teske.
Doris married Virgil Rapp on February 20, 1949. She resided in Cannon Falls, and for over 70 years devoted her love and kindness to many in the family and community. Her ove for her family and friends knew no bounds, her door was always open, and there was always food on the table, and hot coffee ready to pour. She will be remembered for her homemade bread and Swedish Flatbread.
Doris held many jobs in the community, including Kid Duds and Cannon Elementary School. She was known as Grandma Doris serving the children lunch and watching over them on the playground.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, William and Esther Teske, her husband of 68 years, Virgil Rapp, sisters Evelyn (Victor) Murray, Beverly Berg, brother Lawrence Teske, as well as her loving Rapp family brothers and sisters-in-law.
Survivors include her six children Bonnie (Brett) Quinell, Donnie (Anita) Rapp, Rodney (Sandy) Rapp, LaVerne (Holly)Rapp, Laurie Hill, and Howard (Brenda) Rapp. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and brother-in-law Vern Berg, who all shared a special place in her heart, and at her table with homemade love.
The family would like to thank Brighton Hospice and Cannon Rivers staff for their compassionate care and support over the years while in their care.
Our mom was the heart of our family. Her impact on our lives will be forever cherished and she will be deeply missed here, and welcomed in heaven, with open arms by all who were fortunate to know her, and sit at her table.
There will be a memorial gathering on Saturday, April 12th, from 4-7 pm at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls, MN 55009. Doris and Virgil will be buried together at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, at a later date.
