WINSTED –
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris E. Riggs, who left us on June 27, 2024, at the age of 77. Doris was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.
Born with an adventurous spirit, Doris found joy in exploring the world, especially through her many cruises in the Caribbean. Her career was marked by dedication and hard work, having spent many years at Lambert Kay before becoming a cherished bartender at the VFW, where she served the community for over two decades.
Doris was the proud mother of three children; John Roy, Mona Roy and Lanay Martos. She adored her grandchildren, Rachael Andrews, Hannah Crossman, Fred Martos Enry Martos and Abigail Martos, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Her heart swelled with pride for her great grandchild, Caleb Wall, who was the apple of her eye.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Larry Riggs and Carol Riggs and a sister, Barbara Tomlinson.
Known for her huge heart and infectious laughter, Doris was a beacon of strength and independence. Her faith in God was unwavering, providing her with comfort and guidance throughout life.
Doris's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and faith. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
