Doris Cottongim Robinson, age 96, of
London, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 78 years, Raymond Robinson; three children, Peggy Blanton & husband Jim of Georgetown, KY, Louise Dobbins & husband Paul of Nicholasville, KY, Glenn Robinson & wife Sherry of Richmond, KY; six grandchildren, Todd Blanton, Melissa Ward, Stephanie Whitaker, Michael Dobbins, Nathan Robinson, Adam MacPharlain; twelve great grandchildren, Brayden Ward, Max Ward, Ethan Blanton, Meredith Blanton, Tristan Dobbins, Scarlett Dobbins, Hudson Dobbins, Malorie Crank, Lucas Whitaker, Jack Whitaker, Gabe Robinson, Finn Robinson; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Nola Jones Cottongim; three siblings, Earl Cottongim, Frank Cottongim, Carol Ann Beckner; and by one great grandchild, Mason Ward.
Doris was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, a devoted homemaker and a beloved member of the London community. She lived a life marked by hospitality, service, and genuine care for others.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including gardening, reading, and camping, and was best known for her remarkable gift of hospitality. She was a "Welcome Wagon" hostess and had a natural ability to make everyone feel at home, warmly greeting newcomers and longtime friends alike. Doris organized and led London's Newcomer Club, helping countless families feel connected and welcomed into the community. In recognition of her dedication and lasting impact, she was honored by the Laurel County Homecoming Committee and later recognized as one of London's Living Legends.
An accomplished and passionate Bridge player, Doris was a Master Duplicate licensed by the American Contract Bridge League. Doris not only loved the game but delighted to teach others, sharing both her knowledge and enthusiasm with patience and grace.
Above all, Doris will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the lasting friendships she built throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the community she helped shape.
A funeral service for Doris Cottongim Robinson. will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Sean Ryan officiating. Interment will follow at A. R. Dyche Memorial Park in
London, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Monday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour, also at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Todd Blanton, Damon Ward, Michael Dobbins, Ben Whitaker, Nathan Robinson and Adam MacPharlain. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
