Doris Marie Sovine

Doris Marie (Briscoe) Sovine, Doris (Sissy) Sovine 88, of Winfield, WV passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 14, 2025.

She was born on November 26, 1936, to the late James Franklin and Hester Briscoe. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Delmar Sovine; granddaughter, Rikki Jo Cook; sister, Ruth Hinchey; and brothers: Jimmy, Billy, and Dorsel Briscoe.

She was a full-time homemaker who enjoyed painting, crafting, canning, gardening and singing, but more than anything she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a children's Sunday school teacher for over 20 years and enjoyed working with children.

Doris is survived by her children: Linda Sovine, Victor (Tonya) Sovine, Cathy Cook and Gregory (Carissa) Sovine all of Winfield, WV; as well as 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 7 siblings.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Doris's Hospice Team, Erika, Melinda and Beth.

Funeral Service for Doris will be 1:00 pm Wednesday June 18, 2025 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, WV with Rev. Dr. Aaron Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Culloden Community Cemetery, Culloden, WV.

Friends may visit with family one hour prior to the service.
