It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris D. Strohmaier of Rising Sun, MD, who left this world peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on October 14, 1932, in Wilmington, DE, Doris spent her life nurturing her beloved family, her beautiful garden, and the community around her.
Doris touched the lives of many with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering support. She was a devoted mother, cherished sister, and loving grandmother. Doris is survived by her three sons, Warren Strohmaier of Rising Sun, MD, Wayne Strohmaier (Sharon) of North East, MD, and Wray Strohmaier (Kristine) of Angel Fire, NM, as well as her daughter, Kristine Strohmaier of North East, MD. She also leaves behind her sister, Elaine Olenderski of Elsmere, DE, along with 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy for her.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband William Strohmaier, her son William Charles Strohmaier, and her parents Charles and Grace Durand.
Doris found peace and fulfillment in her home, where she expressed her creativity and love through her passion for gardening. Her garden was her sanctuary, a testament to her nurturing spirit and love for life.
Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her life and legacy. Public viewings will be held at Crouch Funeral Home P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD on Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and again on Monday, October 13, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Doris will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
