Doris Elizabeth Lilly Temple of Zachary, 89 years old, was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 2, 2025, while living at Grace Nursing Home, in Slaughter, LA. She entered this world on January 10, 1936, born to William and Hattie Mae Lilly, in Gonzales, LA. She was a member of The Rock Church, Zachary, LA and loved helping with the food distribution to the needy. Doris loved flowers, working in her yard and taking care of her fruit trees. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, in Baker. Doris loved her family, her friends being around people, traveling and going camping.
Doris is survived by her daughter-in-law, Donna Temple; granddaughter, Janelle Stephens and her husband David; two great grandchildren, Cayden and Camryn Stephens; brother, Harold Lilly and wife Shirley; sister, Elaine Guidry and late husband Fred; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Wayne Temple; father, William Lilly; mother, Hattie May Robbins Lilly; daughter, Sheryl Renee Temple; sons, Rodney Temple and Michael Temple; brothers, Randolph Lilly, Morris Lilly, and Lionel Lilly.
The family of Doris expresses their sincere appreciation to the representatives and staff of Grace Nursing Home and The Hospice of Baton Rouge for their compassionate care. They are also deeply grateful to Bill and Juanita Parks for their steadfast support since the 2016 flood, as well as to Yona Lilly. Above all, the family gives all glory to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, believing that Doris is now at peace with her Maker. Thanks be to God.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, LA, on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 12:00 PM until the Christian Burial at 1:00 PM, officiated by Brother Rocky Bezet. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Rock Church, Zachary, LA.
