Doris Maxine Webber

Doris Maxine (Tool) Webber, 91, of Unionville, MO, passed over into heaven on the evening of March 22nd, 2025 at the Putnam County Care Center surrounded by her family.
She was born in Newton, IA on August 8th,1933 to Carroll and Stella Tool. She was the eldest born of three children and helped her family on the farm before and after school. Doris lived with her parents in Lynneville, IA and attended elementary school in Reasnor, IA, until they moved to the family heritage farm north of Monroe. She attended Sunny Point Country School in Monroe and later Monroe High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1951. Doris became an avid reader at a young age. In fifth grade, Doris began taking piano lessons and a life-long passion for music was birthed. In high school, Doris was very active in numerous vocal ensembles, including Glee Club as well as drama & oratory. In her junior year of high school, Doris was selected to give her oratorical speech on live radio at WHO in Des Moines, IA.
While still in high school, Doris was first employed at the Newton Daily News as a stenographer. On October 24th of 1952, Doris was joined in holy matrimony at Tool's Chapel in Reasnor, IA to Edgar Lee Webber of Unionville, MO. At the time, Doris and Edgar were employed at Maytag, where she worked in the administrative offices. Doris and Edgar eventually moved their growing family to Unionville, MO and settled on a farm east of Unionville. Out of their marriage, six children in total were joyfully welcomed. She was a loving wife and mother.
In her spare time, Doris enjoyed many hobbies, including: sewing, quilting and baking and was a member of the community quilting club. Her interest in research and ancestry became a well-developed passion for genealogy, often sharing her findings with great detail and excitement. Outside of the home, her greatest service was at her local church, where she faithfully served her Savior by teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, singing in the church choir as well as sewing blankets for a local ministry. As church pianist, Doris faithfully served 40 plus years playing for weekly church services in the local community. She was also active in the Women's Missionary Union, which raised support for local and foreign missions.
By the early 1970s, Doris joined her husband in starting up a family business, Webber's Upholstery and Fabric. They retired 30 years later. In her senior years, Doris enjoyed welcoming each new grandchild with great delight. She was a giver, and she often used her skills to make gifts for those she loved and cared for.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Stella Tool, in-laws, Glen and Glendolya Webber; sister-in-laws, Laura Webber and Carmie Tool and three brother-in-laws: Harold Webber, Oscar Davids and Johnny Dixon.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of 72 ½ years, Edgar Webber, as well as her six children, including: Randy (Gayla) Webber of Unionville; Ron Webber of Unionville; Gary (Kathy Weiss) of Louisiana, MO; Dr. Carolyn Webber of Clearwater, FL; Lorena (Brad) Grabill of Unionville; Glenda (Bud) Gustin of Oklahoma and daughter-in-love, Rhonda Webber of Unionville. Her lasting legacy includes: nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-great grandchildren. In addition, Doris was survived by her two brothers, Jim (Cindy) Tool of Monroe, IA and Kenneth Tool of Reasnor, IA; sister-in-laws, Norma Dixon of Unionville and Nadean Davids of Keokuk, IA and brother-in-law Bud (Darlene) Webber of Unionville. She was well-loved by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 27th at Thomas Funeral Home in Unionville, MO with visitation at 10 AM, service at 11 AM followed by the graveside service at the Unionville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given towards the Broadlawn's Baptist Church in Unionville where she faithfully served.
