Doris Claudia Wilbur

Doris Claudia Wilber passed away peacefully in Camarillo, CA, on October 30, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on July 15, 1931, in Hollywood, CA, Doris was the daughter of Russell Irving and Claudia Hamilton (Paxson) Sickler. She grew up in North Hollywood and graduated from North Hollywood High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, James Foster Wilber. They were married on March 10, 1951, at the Little Brown Church of the Valley, just before James left to serve in the Korean War.

Doris worked at Woolworths and Brooks Randall Insurance Company before embracing her most treasured role as a devoted wife and mother. Together with James, she raised fi ve children: Kerrie Lynn (Vernon), Kevin James Wilber, Janice Laurie Wilber, Elaine Dorie (Francisco), and James Paul Wilber. The family lived in the San Fernando Valley before relocating to Santa Barbara in 1969 and later settling in Camarillo in 1982.

For more than twenty years, Doris served as the beloved "snack lady" at The Children's Place, Trinity Day Care Center in Camarillo. Affectionately known as "Mrs. Dorie," her warmth and joyful presence left a lasting impression on many young lives.

A woman of steadfast faith, Doris was a longtime member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Santa Barbara and later Camarillo United Methodist Church. Her love for the Lord was evident in her laughter, kindness, and service to others.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Kerrie Vernon (Paul), Elaine Francisco (Steve), James Wilber (Becky); her sister Cheryl Wendlandt (Robert); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James (2012), daughter Janice Laurie (1963), son Kevin James (2024), and brother Russell Sickler Jr.

Graveside service will be held November 21, 2025, at Conejo Mountain Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service and reception will follow on Saturday, November 22, at 2:00 p.m. Camarillo United Methodist Church, 291 Anacapa Dr., Camarillo, CA
