BRACKEN, Dorotha Jean "Dottie" - Age 87, of Brighton, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Dottie's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Pastor Jon Reynolds officiating. Burial will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly immediately following the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring, may make contributions to a charity of your choice in Dottie's name.
Dottie was born January 1, 1938 in Burnt Prairie Township, IL. She was the first child born in White County, IL that year. Her parents, Cecil and Ethel Thurza (Sutton) Doty, received gifts from local merchants upon her arrival. She was a 1955 graduate of Belleville High School in Belleville, MI. In the fall of 1957, Dottie married Amos James Dickinson. The family spent most of their growing years in the Port Huron/Croswell area of Michigan. Jim passed away of early onset dementia in December of 1976. She then married H Russell Bracken III, May 28, 1983 in Saline. Dottie enjoyed cross stitching, needle point, crafting, being a homemaker and making memory bears for friends who had lost loved ones.
Surviving are: her husband: H Russell Bracken; her children, Julie (Lee) Hixson of Darragh, PA, Don Dickinson of Saline, and Amy (Steve) Daybird of Brighton; grandchildren, Emily Miller, William Hixson, Ian Dickinson, William (Crystal) Nuffer, Stephanie (Aaron) Gavin, Megan Daybird, Lauren (John) McDowell, and Andrew Daybird; great grandchildren, Holli, Ava, Brayden, Scarlet, Preston, and Carson; sister, Judy (Dave) Buszka of Byron Center; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Carol Balliet, Mildred Mills and Douglas Doty. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
