Hurontown
Dorthea M. Fricke, 96, a resident of Cleveland, OH, and a former resident of Hurontown and the Bluff's Senior Living Community in Houghton, passed away Wednesday January 8, 2025, at The Winfield at Richmond Heights Assisted Living under the care of Hospice of Western Reserve, in Richmond Heights, OH.
She was born on February 12, 1928, in Hancock, MI, a daughter of the late Albert and Elva (Cornish) Tetzlaff. Dorothea was raised in Houghton and was a graduate of the Houghton High School with the class of 1945.
Following High School Dorothea had worked as a Telephone Operator for Michigan Bell.
On January 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Fricke. The couple moved to various parts of the country during Robert's working career but returned to make their home in Hurontown. On January 23, 2022, Robert preceded Dorothea in death.
Mrs. Fricke was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Houghton and a member of the Eastern Star for 70 years. She enjoyed needlework and craft projects and working crossword puzzles.
Preceding her in death were her husband Robert, Her parents; and her brother James Albert Tetzlaff.
Surviving are: Her children: James Fricke of Houghton Elva Brodnick of Cleveland, OH Mary Bronson of Mayfield Height, OH Her grandson: Lewis Bronson Her nephew: William Raduchel
A service for Dorothea will be held later this spring at Grace United Methodist Church of Houghton. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
