Dorothea Annette Steverson, affectionately known as "Dottie," was a compassionate and loving soul whose light touched many lives. Born on June 16, 1954, in Merced, CA, she was a pillar of strength, resilience, and courage. Dorothea's thoughtful nature and infectious smile warmed the hearts of everyone she encountered. She was a beacon of love and kindness in her community, an attribute deeply rooted in her Christian faith. As a member of Mt. Pisgah AME Zion Church in Merced, her unwavering faith was an embodiment of the verse from Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble." Dorothea's journey took her from the vibrant neighborhoods of San Francisco to the bustling cityscape of Las Vegas, Nevada, where she served the community for 25 years in retail administration at Albertsons. Her exemplary work ethic and dedication were a testament to her character. However, it was her personal accomplishments and hobbies that truly defined her. An active member of the "Foxy Ladies" in her younger years, Dorothea enjoyed running track, gymnastics, and passed along her strong softball skills. She was a proud graduate of Merced High School, class of '72, and furthered her education at Fresno State. Dorothea leaves behind a rich tapestry of love and memories, deeply woven into the hearts of her loved ones. She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Curtis) Hill and Daryl (Jennifer) Wright, her siblings, Wanda Lax, Ronald (Cynthia) Steverson, and Pamela Steverson, her step-son, Chris Wright, and her beautiful grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Anderson and Janice Steverson, her grandmother, Alberta Johnson, her brother, Richard Steverson, and her grandsons, Michael Hill and Farrell Hill. Her love for her family knew no bounds and continues to resonate through her loved ones. Dorothea's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and resilience. Her legacy of love, compassion, and courage will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Services are under the direction of Heritage Mortuary. We encourage friends and family to share memories, upload photos, and celebrate the beautiful life of Dorothea on her memorial page. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure.

I'm sorry for the Steverson loss, many blessings, our family grew up together and we went to the same schools. I loved to watch her play softball, OUR LORD JUST RECEIVED A STRONG ANGEL

With great sadness the alumni of Merced High School Class of 1972 send our most heartfelt sympathies and prayers to Dottie“s family. To know Dottie was to love her and she was well-known and certainly loved and respected by her classmates. Rest in peace sweet Dottie. You are surely missed. Heaven has gained an angel.
