Mr. John Scott "Scottie" Steverson, 56, died suddenly Tuesday (November 18, 2025) at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Scottie was born July 24, 1969 in Waycross where he was a lifelong resident. He worked at Townsend Tree Service as a foreman for 19 years. He attended Swamp Road Baptist Church and Zion Hill Baptist Church, and was a proud member of Rebuilding Together. He was a very good man who loved old cars, horses, and anyone he crossed paths with. He made friends wherever he went.
Scottie was preceded in death by his biological parents, John Steverson and Mary Frances Stapleton Steverson; a stepson, Brock McCorvey; and a nephew, Brandon Henderson.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Steverson of Waycross; two grandchildren, Landon McCorvey of Waycross, and Paizley McCorvey of Jesup; his parents, John W. "Junior" Stapleton and Wanda L. Stapleton of Waycross; two sisters, Melissa "Missy" Henderson (Steve), and Belinda Grantham (Randy) both of Waycross; a brother, Croma Steverson of Waycross; three sisters-in-law, Betty Musgrove, Barbara Thomas, and Shannon Spikes (Ronnie); three brothers-in-law, Bobby O'Berry, Tim O'Berry, and Tony O'Berry; a daughter-in-law, Courtney McCorvey Hires of Jesup; two nieces, Anniston Grantham and Annslee Kate Grantham; and a nephew, Dustin Henderson.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday (November 22, 2025) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
