Dorothea Strabley Obituary

Dorothea Lillian Strabley

Dorothea Lillian Strabley left this life on August 27, 2025.

Born on January 23, 1934, in Cherokee County, Ala., "Dottie" built her life in Richmond, Va. with her husband of 70 years, Chuck.

Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; daughters, Gayla and Kathy; and her grandson, Cory. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Kimberly) and daughter, Karen (Randy); grandchildren, Ramsey, Jessica, Skyler, Sydney, Matthew, Benjamin, and Stephanie; and nine beautiful great grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Dottie had many titles and played many roles - Waitress, Mother, Business Owner, World Traveler, Gardener, Altar Guild Director, and her absolute favorite - Nana.

Infamous for her "Mom Stare" she could command any room with a simple flit of her eye, and often did. Those wishing to best honor her memory are encouraged to toast with a glass of Pinot Grigio and a nice bag of Cheetos.

A service will be held at The Church Of the Epiphany, 8000 Hermitage Road, Henrico, VA 23228 on September 6, 2025, at 11 a.m.

She was my Mom whenever I was around. I had love and respect for her and Chuck. I always felt like one of the family.
