WOODSTOCK-Dorothy K. Baker, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, September 29, 2025. Born in Laramie, Wyoming on January 4, 1943, she spent her childhood and early adulthood in Champaign, Illinois, where her father was professor of geology at the University of Illinois. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Illinois, then later did graduate studies in education, earning a teaching certificate. She taught in the Champaign public schools for six years.

Later, after her family moved to Huntington Beach, California, she taught at a private school there as well. She and her husband have resided in Woodstock since 2005. She loved her family, reading, and yarn arts. A passionate animal lover, she always had at least one (rescued) dog. She also liked cats, but only from a distance, as she was allergic to them. She supported many animal-related organizations, including African Wildlife, Bat Conservation International, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and ASPCA.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Craig, also of Woodstock; her son Craig Jr. of Lowellville, OH; two daughters, Ruth of Rosendale, NY, and Rachel of Long Beach, CA; and three granddaughters, Judy, Rachael, and Sarah.

A memorial will be held, at a time to be determined, in the Spring, her favorite season. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the animal-related organization of choice.
