Margaret Pettey, 93, of Kingston, NY, formerly of Manhattan, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine, NY. She was born on February 24, 1932, to the late Herbert and Sarah (Boler) Hymes. She was married to her loving husband of 30 years, Charles R. Pettey. Charles predeceased her on January 26, 2014.
Margaret was a graduate of Saugerties High School Class of 1950. After graduation she moved to New York City. In 1953 she went on to attend Virginia State College where she majored in social work. In 1959 she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree and then went to work for the City of New York Department of Social Services for 25 years. In 2000 she returned home to Kingston.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Sarah (Alfred) LaBollita of Kingston, her stepdaughter, Sharon Taylor of Manhattan, her grandson, Malik Taylor of Manhattan, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was predeceased by her siblings: Herbert, Mary, George, Ruth, and David.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Saturday October 18, 2025, from 10am to 12pm. The funeral service will start at 12pm with burial following in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
