Dorothy Baker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pippin Funeral Home - Camden Wyoming on Feb. 3, 2026.
Dorothy Frances Baker, formerly of Camden, DE passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Greenville, North Carolina. She was born January 28, 1936, in Rockford, Illinois to Arthur Ahmer and Alice Ahmer (Jacobs).

Known by most as Dottie, she was very proud of her former job as a United Airlines Stewardess, only stopping because then you could not be married and fly. She met and married her husband of 62 years, Byron (Hank) Baker in Florida and settled in Dover, Delaware, where Hank was in the USAF.

Dottie worked and retired from the State of Delaware, where she worked in many administrative roles. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years. She took up golf after retirement and enjoyed being a member of Wild Quail Country Club and the 9 holers. The friendships she made playing golf were very special to her, along with the mudslider get togethers.

When not playing golf, she and Hank could either be found cruising in the Chesapeake Bay on their precious Viking yacht or traveling the world. The adventures they took were immense.

She is predeceased by her husband, Hank Baker, twin brother, Donald Ahmer and her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Katherine King (Dave) and Lori Lynn Forsberg (Brad); grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Jeff, and Shelby and 4 great grandchildren.

A special thank you to her amazing nurses, Lisa, Angel, and Susan who made the last four years the best they could be.

Services and burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, Delaware on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Dottie's name to The National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rdStreet, New York, NY 10016
