WEST GARDINER – Dorothy (Dot) M. Beaulieu passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on January 20, 2025. She died at the age of 88 in her West Gardiner home of 60 years with family by her side. Dot was a dedicated State of Maine employee, serving most of her career with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife. She retired in 1994 as secretary to the Commissioner of the Maine Department of Marine Resources.
Dot was born in St. Agatha, Maine on March 16,1936, daughter of Paul and Cecile (Corriveau) Guerrette. Due to her mother's passing Dot was adopted at the age of 2 by Joseph and Laurie (Roy) Morneault. Dot was salutatorian of her class, graduating from St. Agatha High School in 1954. Soon after graduation she moved to Connecticut and met her beloved husband of 49 years, Edward Beaulieu of Van Buren, Maine. They were married on September 4,1956 and moved back to Maine where they raised their 3 children.
Dot was an exceptionally kind and loving person to everyone in her life. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a very special Nana. Dot played the piano and was a beautiful singer and sang Que Sera, Sera by Doris Day at their own wedding. Dot and her husband owned and raced horses. They also enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and were happiest spending time with family and friends.
Dot is survived by her children Brenda Hebert, Darren Beaulieu and his friend Diane Tash, son-in-law Ted Brown, brother Camille Guerette, grandchildren Lisa (Brown) Purvis and husband Michael, Brandon Hebert and wife Monica, Curtis Hebert and wife Parise, Tanya Brown and fiancé William Sleeper, Paige (Beaulieu) Goggin and husband Damien, Allie (Beaulieu) Northgraves and husband Calvin, great-grandchildren Michael Jr., Myles and Marcus Purvis, Violet Sirois and Charlotte Hebert, Chloe Oliver and Tatum Sleeper, Emberly Goggin. She also leaves behind sister-in-law Carlene Wheelock, Lynn, Elaine, and Barbara Beaulieu, nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends. Dot is predeceased by her parents, her husband Edward Beaulieu, daughter Doreen Brown, daughter-in-law Jane (Whalen) Beaulieu, son-in-law Robert Hebert, and brother J. Bert Guerrette.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave,
Gardiner, Maine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church,
Gardiner, Maine. A Spring Committal Service is set for Monday, May 12, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Maine Veterans' Cemetery- Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine.
