Dorothy N. Coleman, born January 17, 1942, to the late Lonnie L. Coleman and Bobbie N. Cox, peacefully transitioned from this world on Friday, June 20, 2025. Dorothy's selflessness and unwavering dedication to providing for her family are truly admirable. Her commitment to encouraging her children to pursue higher education at Tennessee State University reflects the high value she placed on learning. She instilled in them the confidence to believe in themselves and the drive to always do their best. Dorothy's love, support, and guidance have left a lasting impact on her children. She accepted Christ at a young age and, in the years leading up to her health challenges, rededicated her life to Him. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
Although preceded in death by her parents and half-brother, Andrew "Frank" Coleman, Dorothy's memories remain alive in the hearts of her three children: Sharon Hailey of Nashville, TN; Lonnie (Nita) Coleman of Humboldt, TN; and Jimmy (Emma) Coleman of Tullahoma, TN. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Quincy Crutchfield of Kansas City, MO; Tiffany Hailey of Nashville, TN; Aaron (Floretha) Hailey of Nashville, TN; Ashley (Julius) Wilson of Atlanta, GA; Jasmine Coleman of Nashville, TN; Jimmy Coleman Jr. of Smyrna, TN; and a special granddaughter, Azaria Robinson of Nashville, TN. Dorothy also leaves behind seven beloved great-grandchildren: Aaron Jr., Aniyah, and Valencia of Nashville, TN; Kamaria, Kailey, Kayah, and Kahj of Atlanta, GA. Surviving family includes her half-sisters: Mae Esther Coleman and Yulandis Coleman; aunts: Ann Doaks and Mary Francis Hooker; uncle: Tommy (Faye) Hooker; and devoted cousin: Oliver (Gattie) Welch-along with a host of other relatives and friends. A life marked by quiet strength, unwavering love, and enduring kindness, Dorothy N. Coleman will be remembered always.
