Dorothy Jacqueline Crewe

Dorothy Jacqueline "Jackye" Crewe, 81, was born on June 17, 1943, in Washington, D.C., and she passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Heathcoate Hospital in Haymarket, Va.
Jackye was the third of three children born to George Raymond and Dorothy Gaskins Walker. She spent her childhood in Manassas, Virginia, and graduated from Jennie Dean High School in 1961. Afterward, she married Augustus LaFonde Simms, Sr., and moved to New York City before returning to Washington, D.C. From this marriage, she had three children: Augustus LaFonde "Corky" Simms, Robyn Lynn Simms, and Darin Leando Simms. In 1969, she moved back to Manassas, where she began working at IBM.
In 1983, Jackye married Thomas Wanzer Crewe. She was a loving wife for many years. From their union, they had a son, Timothy Wanzer Crewe, who preceded her in death.
Jackye worked at both IBM and McLane Food Distribution, where she formed many lasting friendships. Singing was something she loved to do. She was a member of First AME Church and enjoyed singing in their choirs. She also loved to cook. She took pride in the many dishes she made for her family. Jackye was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed for many reasons, not the least of which will be the smiles and love she shared with everyone.
A service to remember her life will be held on April 12 at First AME church, 10313 South Grant Avenue, Manassas, Va. A viewing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. The service follows at 11:00 a.m.
