He was born in Gloucester in 1943 to Broadus H. and H. Geneva Crewe. He enjoyed going out on the water with his father.
Wendell attended Gloucester High School before studying English at the University of Richmond. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a correctional officer and as an insurance salesman.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister Carolyn Crewe Gray and brother Donald Crewe. He is survived by his children: Michelle, Sean, and Christina Crewe.
The family wants to thank Heidi Strauss and Kyira Brickley for their care of Wendell in his later years.
A committal service will be held Thursday September 4, 2025 at 3:00pm at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veteran's Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory Downtown Suffolk Chapel is serving the family.
