Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Smith Tucker, age 91, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at Fellowship Home in Valdosta, Ga. following a extended illness.
A native of Coffee County, Mrs. Tucker was born September l4, 1933, daughter of Harry Smith and Jane Tanner Smith Davis. Dot raised her family in Alapaha, Ga., where she was a homemaker and integral part of Tucker Farms. She returned to Pearson in l988 to care for her mother, Jane Davis. She enjoyed gardening, baking, visiting family and attending church. She never met a stranger and was always willing to provide care for those in need. She was a member of Glory Church while living in Alapaha and later a member of Pearson Church after moving to Pearson. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Smith, her stepfather and mother, Melvin Davis and Jane Tanner Smith Davis, her husband, Bill Tucker, and sister in laws, Carolyn Smith and Lou Davis.
Survivors include:
3 Sons: Leon Tucker and wife Vanne of Nashville, Ga.
David Tucker and wife Alice of Nashville, Ga.
Tim Tucker and wife Sharon of Winston-Salem, N.C.
2 Brothers: Harry Smith of Peason, Ga.
Melvin Lewis Davis of Hilton Head, S.C.
5 Grandchildren: John Tucker and wife Caty, Kathryn Warren and husband Josh, Hannah Tucker, Ashley Moore and husband Thomas, and Amanda Kennedy and husband Jeff.
2 Step-Grandchildren: John and Brandon Bennett
7 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tucker were held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., at Glory Church in Alapaha, Ga. with Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating and the Eulogy given by her son, Tim Tucker. Special musical selections were “How Great Thou Art” and “God on The Mountain” rendered by Lisa Carver and Sue Gaskins with Lisa Carver accompanying at the piano. “Amazing Grace” was rendered by the attending congregation. Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude was by Lisa Carver, pianist. The interment followed in Glory Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were Wayne Smith, John Tucker, Tucker Warren, Josh Warren, Jeff Kennedy and Thomas Moore.
Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
