Dorothy Empting

Dorothy "June Bug" June Empting, age 89, of Anadarko, Oklahoma, was born on March 28th, 1936, to Wayne Martin Lee and Nora Elizabeth, and passed away peacefully on February 12th, 2026.

Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Anadarko and a member of St. Patrick's church. She attended Saint Patrick's Mission School then Anadarko High School. Dorothy worked as a bank teller for 5 years at The First State Bank. After that, she owned a liquor store for another 5 years before becoming a full-time homemaker for the majority of her life.

Dorothy was married to Jack C. Smith for 27 years before meeting her second love, Gordon Kenneth Empting, and marrying him for 26 years.

Her children and grandchildren were her whole world, and she lived for them unconditionally. She also loved to read cookbooks and was an awesome cook herself. She was a happy, very loving compassionate funny, and loyal person, being unapologetically herself. She was authentic, never lied, and seldom held back her thoughts and opinions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Nora Lee. Her brother, Wayne Lee Jr., and her sister, Sandra Kay Lee.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Michael Smith and Lorraine Keyes-Smith of Medicine Park, Lori Lee Swart and Joe of Anadarko. Her stepchildren: Gordon Kenneth Empting Jr and Vicki of Tennessee; Gary Empting and Diane of Texas; Randy Empting and Cindy of Ponca City. Her siblings, Clayton Lee of Norman and Patrica Coleman of Marlow. Her grandchildren, Kael and Cassie McDonald of Oklahoma City, Mauri and Keith Johnson of Denver, Colorado, Phealin and Irish Whish of Anadarko, Ian and Stacy Swart of Lawton, Hannah and Zach Shafer of Elgin, Maura and DJ Moffet of Elgin. Her great-grandchildren, Rowan, Juniper, Jack, Lila, Henry, Anson, Graham, Braden, Nathan, Lennon, Isabella, Liam and Izzy. Her bonus grandchildren, Blaine, Kelsey, Wade, Rebecca, Erin, Brooke, Dustin, Colin, Brandon, and Kasie.
