Dorothy Barbara Haller, age 99, of Freeburg, was born the second child, and only daughter of Andrew and Mary (Gradel) Haller, and passed from this life on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Villa Marie, Jefferson City.

Dorothy attended the Holy Family School graduating from eighth grade and was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Jefferson City.

In her teens, she moved to Jefferson City to work as domestic help for Anne Tedlock Brooks, a local author. Dorothy went to work in several factories throughout Jefferson City including Tweed's, International Shoe, Scholastic, and finally retiring from Westinghouse in 1988. During WWII she packed seabags at the Tweedie Defense Plant, occasionally slipping her name and address into the bags to offer support to the troops. Dorothy returned to the family farm in Freeburg almost every weekend to help her mom with farmwork and with raising her younger brothers.

Dorothy's favorite pastime included going to the casino, playing cards, crocheting, cross stitching, quilting with the ladies at St. Peter's, and volunteering at St. Joseph's Nursing Home which she began once her mom became a resident in 1985, and continued long after her mother's death in 1992.

Those left to mourn include: her brothers, Patrick Haller and wife, Sandy of Freeburg, Donald Haller and wife, LaVerne of Freeburg, Jerome (Jerry) Haller and wife, Marlene of Rich Fountain; sisters-in-law, Marie Haller of Vienna, Leola Haller of St. Louis, Eleanor Haller of Jefferson City, and Ila Nettesheim of the state of Florida; special niece, Christie Fain of City Jefferson City; numerous nieces and nephews including great and great-greats; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Haller in 1974 and Mary Haller in 1992; brothers, Herbert Haller in 1991, Anthony (Tony) Haller in 1998, Richard (Dick) Haller in 2015, and Ambrose Haller in 2023; and friend and longtime roommate, Mary Castrop in 2009.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with her Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m., all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 104 Oliver Street, Freeburg, MO 65035, with Father William Debo as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials for masses or to the Holy Family School Building Fund with envelopes available at the church the day of her service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 250, Vienna, MO 65582.
