DOROTHY M. HEIZER, 95, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away at 9:33 am, Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, Illinois.
She was born to the late Edward J. and Elizabeth H. (nee Mennerich) Waldron on September 22, 1929, in Red Bud, Illinois.
Dorothy married Richard R. Heizer on September 4, 1948, in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois; he preceded her in death on April 19, 2004.
Dorothy was baptized, confirmed, and a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Red Bud. She was a 1947 Red Bud High School graduate and a homemaker her entire life. Her favorite activities with Richard were traveling and dancing. They were fortunate to visit all fifty states, Mexico, Canada, England, and the Caribbean. They made many long-time friends at weekend dances throughout the metro area, and even took vacations with them. She enjoyed needlework, tending a rose garden that Richard built for her, and derived much pleasure from her pet cats. Dorothy was unassuming, had a gentle disposition, and loved reading, crossword puzzles, and quiet times. Dorothy spent her last ten years enjoying excellent care at Red Bud Garden Place.
