Dorothy Louise Hines, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, in KY, with her devoted family by her side. Born on November 27, 1945, in Tanner, Alabama, Dorothy's life was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.

Dorothy attended Tanner High School, afterwards she moved with her husband and children to Louisville, Kentucky and began working for General Electric until retirement. Her strong work ethic mirrored her personality—loving, hardworking, and good-humored. She brought joy to those around her, leaving an impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Family was the central pillar of Dorothy's life. She found immense pride in raising her beautiful family, and her love extended generously to her grandchildren, whom she adored. Dorothy's legacy is carried on by her devoted children: Barbara Hines (Anthony Mitchell), Natasha Miller (Derrick Miller), Crystal Mayfield (Marcus Mayfield), LaShonda Hines, Christopher Hines (Troya Hines), Jeffrey Hines (Patricia Hines) and Glenda Gill. Her sisters: Joyce Davis and Melanie Wiggins, twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, five nephews and an abundance of friends and extended family she called her children. These roles brought her unparalleled joy, and her nurturing spirit will forever be remembered by her loved ones.

Alongside her accomplishments in motherhood, Dorothy had interests that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. She loved to travel, enjoyed days spent at the beach, and found happiness in cooking for friends and family. Oftentimes, these gatherings were filled with laughter and love as she took care of those around her, always ensuring that everyone felt welcome and cherished.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, William Wiggins, her mother, Ellen Meade, her sister Rosetta Peoples, her brother Luke Meade, her daughters Angela Hines, and Terri Rice who now watch over her in eternal peace. Though she has departed from this earthly realm, the values she instilled in her family and the memories shared will remain a guiding light in their lives.
