Our beloved Dee Johnson ascended early in the morning on Friday, October 6, 2023 at our home and in the Amarnath Temple. From above, Dee now blesses her loving family: Husband, Chris; Granddaughter, Phoenix; Sons, Chris and Robert; Daughter-in-law, Kim; Sisters, Jean and Joanne; and Brothers, Don, Larry, Lee, Jim, and Kenny.
Dee was born on March 25th, 1949, in Harbor Beach, Michigan, to Phillip and Bernice Artman. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Wayne State University and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood
Education from the University of Notre Dame-Belmont. She was also certified as a teacher of Transcendental Meditation by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1973.
She founded and administered the Maharishi School of Sonoma County, California, and worked at the Maharishi School in Fairfield, Iowa, after her family relocated in 1989. Alongside her husband, she was one of the original developers of the Maharishi Center for Perfect Health and World Peace, a founder of Maharishi Vedic City, and an original member of its City Council.
Her greatest joy in life was being a mother to Chris and Robert, a grandmother to Phoenix, and a wife to Chris. The pinnacle of her life's glory came in 2008 with the appearance of the Amarnath Lingam and the birth of her granddaughter, Phoenix. Dee was the founder and mother of the Amarnath Temple and, from its inception, served Lord Amarnath while hosting thousands of visitors.
Dee touched all with her love, kindness, and consideration, and now, from the highest heaven and through the Amarnath Temple, Dee continues to be with us and bless us all.
