Dorothy Marie Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of joy and laughter. Known for her quick wit and warm humor, Dorothy had a special gift for making everyone around her smile. Her family and friends will forever cherish the laughter and light she brought into their lives.
Born in Sikes, Louisiana, Dorothy was a proud graduate of Bolton High School and the devoted wife of the late CJ Johnson Jr. She was a talented crocheter and seamstress, and she even used these talents to create a flag that is proudly displayed at the historic Kent Plantation House in Alexandria. Dorothy loved to cook gumbo and other Cajun dishes to share with her neighbors, and she enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino, which brought her much happiness. Her lifelong best friend, Wilma McKee, whom Dorothy affectionately referred to as her "Thelma," added to the joy in her life, much like the iconic duo Thelma and Louise.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Kimberly Pollard and her spouse Nicholas Pollard, and John Jeansonne and his spouse Della LaCroix Jeansonne; as well as her treasured grandchildren, Andrew Pollard, Courtney Pollard, Christopher Brown, son of Bill Brown, and Luke and Chelsea Jeansonne, children of Christine Jeansonne, who will carry forward her memory and joyful spirit.
A service to honor Dorothy's life will be held on October 30 at Gallagher Funeral Home, 3994 Monroe Hwy, Ball, LA 71405. A private family viewing will take place at 9:00 am, followed by a public viewing from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The service will follow immediately after the viewing, with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, located next to Gallagher Funeral Home.
